JOCO Teen Council Meeting Recap November, 2024

For our fourth teen council meeting of the 2024-2025 school year, our Teen Council members started off by reviewing the Micro-Grant Application Process and we shared some ideas for what we could do for the micro-grant. A couple of ideas were thrown out:

  • Doing events similar to our Summer Orientation in each JoCo school
  • Mini magazine — a compilation of art/artwork related to mental health done by JoCo teens put into a miniature magazine that we can distribute in schools and to legislators
  • Art Jam — an event that we put on highlighting teen art/poetry
  • 5k or organized walk
  • Story day or multiple story days

We discussed that ideas need to be submitted by November 20th that way the Zero Reasons Why team can go through the ideas and choose the top 5. Once the 5 are chosen, we will contact teens and have them make presentations on their ideas for the next teen council meeting. At our December teen council meeting, we will vote on the micro-grant idea!

We then ended the night by discussing the previous mental health forum and decided that the forums should be longer. We also talked about trying to incorporate more round-table discussions or fun activities.
